On Sunday, March 24, the 86th edition of Gent Wevelgem in Flanders Fields will take place. The women's race is in its 13th edition. This year, the peloton will start in Ypres and ride through the Heuvelland and Hainaut to Wevelgem.

Gent Wevelgem in Flanders Fields starts at the Menin Gate in Ypres. From there, the riders will travel through the Heuvelland and Hainaut to Wevelgem. The first 100 kilometers of the race are predominantly flat, but the wind has free rein, and there is also a passage through De Moeren where the wind is particularly dangerous.

In the Heuvelland, we will encounter the Scherpenberg and the Banenberg. At 85 kilometers from the finish, we will face the Monteberg and the Kemmelberg. The Kemmelberg, which the riders will climb three times, is first approached from the east side (Belvedère).

Additionally, there are three semi-paved sections to overcome, the Plugstreets, as a tribute to WWI. These are located in the village of Ploegsteert, pronounced ‘Plugstreet’ by the English in WWI. Afterwards, we will again tackle the Monteberg and the Kemmelberg, the Scherpenberg and the Banenberg, before finishing with a third ascent of the Kemmelberg.

After the Kemmel, there are still 34 kilometers to the finish; there are some uphill sections, but we will not see any serious climbs anymore.
