Walk in the Lommel Sahara: orange

The Agency for Nature and Forest manages nature reserves, forests, parks, and fishing waters in Flanders and provides support for wildlife management and bird protection. The orange hiking trail in the Sahara largely follows the blue route but offers more variety and stunning views over heathland and agricultural landscapes. The Sahara, voted the most beautiful walk of 2018, features a large body of water that attracts many waterfowl and is surrounded by coniferous forests and architectural marvels. There is a unique lookout tower overlooking the Bosland National Park and a play forest for children with natural play elements. Visitors can have picnics at playful tables and borrow a free hammock at event hall De Soeverein between March 15 and October 15. For children, there is a treasure hunt from The Lion King, with a short and a longer route, starting at the gravel parking lot on Lossingsweg.
