Spectacular walk along the playful river Ourthe where you climb on the rocks of the Hérou via a chain, wade in the Ourthe and ends at the reservoir and dam of Nisramont. This route is for the advanced hiker and is not recommended in wet and wet weather. At low tide, the water comes to your ankles during the paddling pool. Water shoes and a towel as extra backpack items are recommended.

The tour starts from the large parking lot of the Nisramont dam. We cross the road next to the bridge and look for a narrow path that will take us to where the walk along the Ourthe will begin.

After 400 meters we see an iron door on the right side. Funny enough to shine here with a flashlight. This is a tunnel that was used at the time to take measurements to determine the right location for the construction of the dam. Here the rocks were not strong enough and therefore the dam was not built here but a little further away.

We walk and meander with the Ourthe for a while. Near the 3 km point we walk through a real jungle of flowers and shrubs. A little later we walk along the banks of the Ourthe again. Pay attention to the point of 3.5 km. There you are looking for a necklace. This chain will take us on a rocky path to the top of the Herou's rocks. Once there, you have a beautiful view.

If you do not want to go up via the chain on site, you can also continue to follow the bank of the Ourthe. The route will then be 2 km longer.

After climbing and enjoying the view, we descend to the other side of the Ourthe. Walking along the Ourthe, we will again have to overcome various obstacles such as rocks and tree roots.

At the 4.4 km point, we arrive at the only place to wade in the immediate vicinity. This paddling pool spot is also often part of a trail race. Good luck with the crossing!

After the crossing we follow the bank of the Ourthe for some time. Now on a slightly quieter path as you can imagine that a little less hikers come here. At first, it's still good but the path will become narrower and you will have to climb a tree regularly. At one point we had the feeling that the path ended between some bushes but fortunately there was a wide path hidden behind it (5.9 km).

From there, the path will be a little more visible. Only 6.4 km away be careful because of a flow of water that regularly carries the path here.

At 7.3 km we leave the Ourthe valley and cross forests and a plateau where there has been a lot of logging. It produces beautiful images, by the way.

The roads are improving and we are in civilization for a while. It will not take long because we will go down to the reservoir of Nisramont (10.5km). Here we make a small detour until we come face to face with the dam. After crossing the dam, taking some nice pictures, we reach the restaurant service and the parking lot.
