Stadium at Wilschenbruch

The stadium at Wilschenbruch was a football stadium with 6,000 seats in the Wilschenbruch district of the Hanseatic city of Lüneburg in Lower Saxony. It was one of the oldest German football stadiums. From 1905, it was used by the football club Lüneburger SK or Lüneburger SK Hansa.
Before the club moved to Wilschenbruch, the team played as Lüneburger Fußball-Klub at the drill ground in front of the Lüner barracks and the shooting range. On February 16, 1905, the use of the ground was withdrawn from the Lüneburg clubs to protect the grass. A new home was found on April 22, 1905, with the sports field in Wilschenbrook. The lease agreement with the innkeeper Heinrich Sander was retroactively effective from October 1, 1904, for over a year, and the rent was 24 marks per year. Four days later, the mayor H. Wolter from the estate administration of Wilschenbrook approved the lease agreement. The inauguration of the area, named L.F.K.-Sportplatz, took place on August 20, 1905, with an athletic event. The preparation of the ground cost the club 300 marks. The first football match was played by the hosts of the L.F.K. against SC Sperber Hamburg on September 3, 1905. Two weeks later, the L.F.K. started the league match operations in Wilschenbruch.
