Circular hiking trail on the Dohrenberg

The natural area NaturErlebnisRaum Dohrenberg near the village of Salzderhelden impresses with a unique natural landscape and a view of the Leinepolder, the B3 bridge, and the Heldenburg Salzderhelden. The area of Dohrenberg was developed for the public through an initiative of volunteers and nature enthusiasts, the local council of Salzderhelden, as well as representatives of the city of Einbeck.

In every season, along the newly created network of hiking trails, there is something for nature lovers and environmentally conscious hikers to discover. Nature enthusiasts can find rare orchid species, gentians, protected butterflies, moths, and a rich bird life in the old cultural landscape of Dohrenberg.

In spring, the Dohrenberg blooms in a white sea of ​​wild garlic flowers; in summer, bees and bumblebees search for nectar in the warm air, and insects frolic on trees or along the wayside; in autumn, the autumn leaves of the forest and the traditional orchards glow in various bright colors, and numerous mushrooms sprout from the ground; in winter, you can enjoy the view of the Leine Valley and walk through the snow.

On circular paths around Dohrenberg, benches and seating areas invite you to take a break and enjoy the beautiful view of the Leine Valley. Planned for the future are a forest adventure ant trail and a gnome trail. Also planned is the renaturation of the limestone quarry.

An important note for visitors: Visitors and hikers of Dohrenberg are urged to stay on the paths to protect nature and numerous species and to be mindful of the environment. Please do not throw away litter and food scraps from picnics into nature, but dispose of them at home.

A vineyard is located at Dohrenberg. The grape harvest is always a special day for hobby winemakers at Dohrenberg. The Rosé wine from the grapes of the grape varieties "Müller Thurgau" and "Roter Regent" is taken to a winemaker friend on the Moselle from the location "Käsebusch," who takes over the wine production. Afterwards, it returns to Salzderhelden.
