We took this walk under a bright sun on 14.02.2023. It consists of two loops on either side of the main road (main road, Cr 320a) from Gralingen. The hike is "only" 9 km long, but make no mistake. It can be described as quite sharp.

Gralingen, located at an altitude of 480 meters, was first mentioned in a document in 1319 as Graildingen and in 1506 as Gradlingen.

Gralingen has developed very positively in recent years. Over the past 10 years, extensive road works have been carried out, which indirectly benefited the construction. The many farmers of yesteryear have almost all disappeared to make way for new modern homes. Today Gralingen has 250 inhabitants and is the richest village in the municipality of Putscheid.

The church of Gralingen was built in 1892/1893 in neo-Gothic style.

In front of the church there is a memorial stone in honor of the liberation battle of the 5th Infantry Division from January 22 to 28, 1945.

Next to this monument, the municipality of Putscheid, in cooperation with the Our Nature Park, has set up an information board "Remember us", which explicitly commemorates the events of the Second World War. Built between 1905 and 1908, the former school in Gralingen housed students from the municipality of Putscheid until 1998. In 1999, the monumental building was completely renovated and now serves as a meeting place on the 1st floor for young people.

The riding school "Ourdaller Haff", as well as beautiful viewpoints and a hiking trail on both sides of the plateau, attract many visitors to Gralingen today. »
