North Holland Dunes and Polder Route

Motorway, where various facets of the beautiful landscape of North Holland receive attention.

The route begins at one of the terraces on the beach promenade of Egmond aan Zee. From there, it leads through the beautiful dune landscape over the artist village of Bergen and over the Hondsbosscher dike to the northernmost point of the route, Den Helder.

The route then heads south again, first through the village of Anna Paulowna along Schagen - known for its annual horse market - to the cheese town of Alkmaar. In Alkmaar, the national championship of AZ 2009 once again marked the victory.

We continue along the Alkmaardermeer and end the journey in the parking lot of the visitor center De Hoep. After a (free) visit, you will know everything about water extraction in the North Holland dunes. You can end the day with a snack or drink at the opposite restaurant Johanna's Hof.
