Castle known as Solières abbey
Called the "Fortunate Shelter", the castle is part of an estate that was once the centre of a mixed community dependent, for the monks there, on St Augustin (from 1230 to 1261) and, for the cloistered nuns, on St Bernard (from 1230 to the end of the 18th century). It houses an institution that welcomes individuals with physical and mental disabilities.
Built in the 17th century on the site of one of the wings of the cloister, the building was converted into a castle a century later. It has appearance of a classical structure over two levels built on a high base. The façade is highlighted by a projection in which the central bay, with rocaille motifs. A pediment decorated with wreaths and the arms of the Desoers is topped by a mansard pavilion roof, a bell tower and dome. The bays at each end stand out in the same way.
There is a farm built on four sides from the 17th and 18th centuries. The residential part separates the two courtyards connected by a Baroque gate. Three cowsheds and a barn form two of the four sides. A building enclosing a monumental doorway and other annexes complete the courtyard. Isolated in the grounds is a circular tower from the 17th century that houses a dovecote.
Mentioned as early as 1262, rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries and in operation until 1935, the mill houses a mill wheel. The machinery is preserved and was moved by a millrace fed by the castle lake.
