STOP3 LE GRAND BALLOON

The Grand Ballon is the highest mountain (1424 m) in the French region of the Vosges.

The mountain is located in the southern part of the ridge. The summit is just above the tree line. Beautiful walks can be made in the area around the Grand Ballon. From the top there is a beautiful view over the surroundings of the Grand Ballon in the Vosges. Much further south there is a view of the Alps. Among other things, Mont Blanc is easy to see.

Characteristic of the Garnd Ballon is a radar on top of the top.

The Grand Ballon is one of the peaks over which the Route des Crêtes leads, which connects all the heights of the Vosges massif in the north-south direction. The road comes at 1325 m just below the summit over a col. There is a lot of cycling on this road, but many tourists also come to the Grand Ballon by road.
