Turf to Roosendaal

This 37-kilometer-long international cycling route starts in Roosendaal. It leads through Rucphen, Schijf, and Nieuwmoer back to Roosendaal.

The route runs along former peat canals and excavated moor areas.

From Nieuwmoer, the Roosendaalse or Elderse Peat Canal is followed more or less in the direction of Roosendaal.

The Roosendaalse Vaart is an old peat canal about 15 km long that was used to transport peat to the market in Roosendaal.

It is part of a system of peat canals that were dug in the 14th century and later to connect the moor areas with the cities.
The Roosendaalse Vaart starts in the Matjens and initially runs in a northwest direction, later turning west.

Two kilometers south of Horendonk, the canal dug for the same purpose from Roosendaal flows into the Roosendaalse Vaart, which then runs north through Horendonk and shortly after enters Dutch territory again, where it is now called Natte or Elderse Peatvaart.

Then it runs a few kilometers east of Nispen directly towards Roosendaal, where it reaches the district of Langdonk and then continues towards the center of Roosendaal.
The Roosendaalse Vaart is nowadays a cultural-historical monument.
