The popular Geulstadje in the Heuvelland is a popular hiking resort. The ancient city with its unique high castle and the natural beauty around it houses historical treasures. The illustrious Middle Ages demand attention, but few know about the rich Roman past of the region. An exact replica of underground Roman catacombs is perhaps the highlight, while the literal highlight treats you to a great view over the Geul valley: the perfect place for a Romanwatchtower. On the route of the Via Belgica you walk past the impressive Château St. Gerlach and you also admire smaller monumental pearls.
