Het Philips Stadion ligt aan de Frederiklaan in het Philipsdorp in het Eindhovense stadsdeel Strijp, vlak bij het centrum van Eindhoven.Zaterdag 12 december 1910 wordt het Philips Elftal opgericht door werknemers van de Philips Gloeilampenfabriek in Eindhoven. Dat jaar zijn net de eerste huizen gereed van Philipsdorp, een fabrieksdorp ontworpen naar Brits model om de vele nieuwe werknemers te kunnen huisvesten. Het Engelse fabrieksdorp Port Sunlight vlakbij de rivier de Mersey en de stad Liverpool is een van de inspiratiebronnen. Een deel aan de Frederiklaan wordt niet bebouwd en op dit stuk grond voetballen de bewoners en werknemers van Philips.
