The Beukenhof

The legend of this building goes back to the year 1875. The construction work was commissioned by the de Moffaert family who owned the hunting area around the Chapel of Our Lady of the Beech Tree. Here they could obtain a resting place with carriages and horses while the game was stored in the vaulted cellars to be offered for sale later. The building was built in a typical schulense briek which is a characteristic for all the buildings of the de Moffaert family and for which even a brickyard was built. Unfortunately, it no longer exists.

Under the watchful eye of Our Lady of the Beech Tree, which is located in the chapel across the street and dates back to 1640, trade was conducted here for years.

As every hamlet of Lummen was allowed, a riflemen's guild was also located here, namely Schuttersgilde Kapel O.L.V. van de Beukenboom which has now merged with the guild of Thiewinkel.

At the beginning of the 70s, the building was leased to the Martens Brewery, which continued the activity of an inn in the early 20th century.

In the year 1984 our family settled here and ran the business until we had the opportunity to buy this property in the year 2000. After some beautification work, our restaurant was developed into an oasis of peace and where your taste buds are put to the test by the chef at the stove. While you enjoy the peace and tranquility in the middle of our private domain of approximately 10h. nature.
