About the old railway line from Li Trimbleu near Dalhem (B)

Starting and ending point is the old station house and the former brasserie “Au Boute-En-Train” in Mortroux (Chemin du Trimbleu 3, 4607 Mortroux, B.)

This former brasserie was converted into a "family gîte" in 2020. So there is no longer any gastronomy.
You can also park along the access road to this starting point.

Directions (L = left and R = right):

1. Leave the old station house to the L and follow the hiking path between the old train tracks.
2. Stay on this hiking path after crossing the Berwinne.
3. At the end of the path, cross the paved road and continue straight on the left side of the through road (over gravel).
4. Follow this hiking, cycling, and riding path and turn L at the roundabout in Dalhem.
5. Follow the road and go diagonally L uphill towards the old part of Dalhem (“Rue du Général Thys”).
6. Halfway up the slope, turn R under the old passage with colorful letters (dating from 1620!) and follow the stairs L down.
7. Stop at the bus stop L below and follow the hiking path uphill along house number 9.
8. At the fork, turn R and follow the red and white markings.
A little further along, you will pass the entrance of the old train tunnel. Here, seven people tragically lost their lives in 1991 in an accident involving the tourist train that went from the Blegny coal mine to the station house “Li Trimbleu” (the starting point of this hike).
9. Continue following the path along the old railway line uphill.
10. Go through the yellow barriers at the top, turn L, and walk back L on the paved road, slightly uphill.
11. At the top, cross a through road and continue straight along the green path (“Voie de Saint Vith”).
The following section may be muddy.
12. Follow this green path to a T-junction.
13. Turn L here (you are leaving the green path).
14. Continue downhill along a house with a small waterfall.
15. Turn R onto the paved road and cross it.
16. Immediately turn L (diagonally down = “Laiwisse”).
17. After the bridge (“4T”), go uphill and follow this paved path.
18. Cross a busy through road and descend towards Mortroux.
19. Turn L in Mortroux and follow the road along the stream Asse.
20. Go left uphill to a busy through road and cross it.
21. Continue a little further L to “Au Boute-En-Train”, the starting and ending point of this hike.
