Ilmtalviadukt

The Ilmtal Viaduct is a single-track railway bridge of the Arnstadt–Saalfeld railway line in Thuringia.
On May 1, 1888, the Prussian House of Representatives decided to construct the Arnstadt–Saalfeld railway line. The foundation stone of the viaduct was laid on December 3, 1891. The company Mestwarb & Greiner from Hanover was awarded the contract for the masonry work. The construction period lasted approximately one and a half years, namely until June 28, 1893. The final stone laying took place in the presence of the princely couple of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and other honored guests. From April 1, 1894, the tracks on the viaduct were laid. On June 18 of the same year, it was opened to traffic.
