Tour of Wildbergerhütte

About 16 km and approximately 250 meters of altitude are to be conquered on the smallest cycling circuit in the Reichshof holiday community in the Oberbergisches Land. The starting point and finish line are located at the Catholic St. Bonifatius Church in Wildbergerhütte.

Starting from the Bonifatius Church, we head to the left towards the center of Wildbergerhütte, cross the Siegener Straße, pass by the Wesselwerk on the right, and head towards Nespen. Above this hamlet, there is an opportunity to admire the Wiehltalsperre. At the eastern end of the reservoir is the so-called "Krombacher Island," which is nationally known due to beer advertising. We then ascend towards Hespert, passing Lüsberg and Hassel, leaving the 18-hole golf course on the right.

About 100 meters before the "Ballebäuschen" inn in Hespert, named after an old Bergisch specialty still served in the cozy dining room, we turn right towards Langenseifen and Euel. The golf course is now on our right.

The observer will notice that the soil here is very barren everywhere. In earlier times, farmers mainly grew oats to produce flour or used oats as animal feed. Due to this fact and the great poverty in the region, this area was nicknamed "Haferspanien" (Oat Spain).

The route from Euel to the church village of Heidberg is downhill, but then we climb again towards Hahnenseifen.

The route now goes downhill towards the hamlet of Wiehl, uphill past Komp and Hardt. Ahead of us on the left side is the three-country point where the states of Rhineland-Palatinate, Westphalia, and the Rhineland meet. Just before the hamlet of Kamp, we turn right towards Nosbach and Wildbergerhütte. A place to stop and eat is offered by the Landhaus Wuttke with a well-maintained atmosphere before returning to our starting point.
