Museum under the Yburg

The museum under the Yburg is a museum dedicated to local history in Stetten, a district of Kernen in the Remstal. It is named after the Yburg, the landmark of the area, and is located – as the name suggests – directly beneath the castle.

The museum is housed in a historic building, which was built around 1620 by Johann Friedrich Thumb in Neuburg as a Franconian half-timbered house. A stone mason's mark above the southern entrance dates back to the master builder Michael Kern from Forchtenberg. The ground floor and the first upper floor have preserved wall paintings from the time the house was built. A measuring and window shutter on the ground floor shows late Gothic stylistic elements.
