PR 119 "Franco-Belgian Walk"
1 - With your back to the church parking lot, take the left onto Church Street. At the calvary, continue right onto Moulin Street for 1.7 km and reach the Franco-Belgian border. After 1 km, arrive in Couvreux (Belgium). At the calvary, turn right onto Dix-Mai Street and pass in front of a farm. After 300 m, turn left onto Fauchois Street, pass the church, and continue left towards the Panier du Mervaux. Ascend right onto Pignons Street and continue on the paved path for 1.2 km. At the T, turn right for 150 m then left and enter France.
2 - Continue towards Thonne-la-Long via the Couvreux path [> viewpoint over the plain and Thonne-la-Long]. After 1.5 km, enter Thonne-la-Long. Go left into Petite Rue and then after 350 m, turn right into Gendarmes Alley. Pass the church and arrive at Grande Street.
3 - Go straight, follow the park, pass the washhouse, and follow the stream. After the footbridge, continue straight for 130 m then turn right (follow the markings). At the T, turn left then at the fork, left again onto Gérouville path. After 360 m, at the village exit, head left then immediately right. Continue for 1.7 km to the bottom of a valley (follow the markings well) and engage left onto a grassy path between two cultivated strips. Enter the woods via a narrow path, follow it turning right and after 450 m, arrive at a forest path.
4 - Turn left for 2 km, pass in front of the cemetery and arrive in Avioth. Turn right then right again onto Abbé Delhotel Street. [> Basilica of Notre-Dame and the Recevresse]. Go down Abbé Jacquemin Street below La Grange restaurant, turn left and continue on D 110 towards Montmédy. Cross the Thonne. At the calvary, leave the road to climb up Saint-Martin Street. After 1.7 km, arrive at a cross, continue left for 2 km [> blockhouse] and after a long descent, reach D 198.
5 - Descend to Verneuil-Petit, continue on Grande Rue, pass in front of the town hall then the washhouse. Cross the stream of Naue and after 30 m, leave D 198 to climb left onto the grassy path. Immediately after the right turn, climb left for 800 m. At the T, turn right [> Croix des Mascarades] and descend to Verneuil-Grand. Pass in front of the washhouse, continue on Clamard Street, pass in front of the town hall and arrive at D 981. Go down opposite onto Berlu Street via the protected crossing. [> washhouse]. Turn left, follow the church, turn left to emerge onto D 981. Take it left, cross at the protected crossing and go straight onto Rousselle Street. After 50 m, go right then immediately left to climb to the washhouse. Continue right for 80 m.
6 - At the fork, go straight for 400 m then veer right. After 1.5 km, descend right then left. [> Viewpoint over Écouviez]. Continue on Grande Rue. After the church, turn left and return to the starting point.
