Ghasa Bridge - Nepal

This very narrow suspension bridge is located at a great height above the river that runs below it.

It is built not only for the people to cross, but also for the very important livestock.

Despite the appearance it has as a fragile, extremely unstable, breakable and heavily shaken piece of architecture, it is certainly very reliable as it is fitted with high railings making it very safe for anyone to cross. The main purpose for the construction was that the herds of animals would not have to walk the winding small and very narrow paths in the valley . The Ghasa Suspension Bridge eased the lives of the local people and their main livelihood, livestock, now moves faster than before

50 km further down the Kali Gandaki River is the second longest suspension bridge in the world : the Gandaki Golden Bridge . It has a span of 567 m . The height of the bridge is 122 m from the river level . It became the second longest bridge of its kind in May 2022 after the opening of Sky Bridge 721 in the Czech Republic, before that it was the longest pedestrian bridge in the world.

The bridge has a capacity of 85 MT and can carry the load of 612 people at the same time.

One of the most notable attractions for the trekkers and tourists in the Himalayas of Nepal, Annapurna Circuit runs right across the suspension bridge.
