Möhnesee ist eine Gemeinde in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland, die am Übergang von der Soester Börde zum Sauerland liegt. Sie entstand 1969 im Zuge der kommunalen Neuordnung in Nordrhein-Westfalen durch die Auflösung des Amtes Körbecke. Benannt ist die Gemeinde nach dem zwischen 1908 und 1912 erbauten Möhnestausee. Dieser ist ein wichtiges Ziel für den Tourismus und bis heute einer der wichtigsten Wirtschaftsfaktoren der Gemeinde.
