El Berghof era la residència secundària d'Adolf Hitler. Estava situada a Obersalzberg, muntanya dels Alps bavaresos a prop de Berchtesgaden. Després de la Wolfsschanze, el seu quarter general a Prússia Oriental, el Berghof va ser el lloc on Hitler s'hi està més temps durant la guerra. Abans, de 1927 a 1936, passava la meitat de l'any al seu refugi dels Alps.
Com a canceller alemany, hi va rebre un gran nombre de personalitats en visites oficials, com els dos Primers ministres britànics, Lloyd George i Neville Chamberlain, l'ambaixador de França André François-Poncet, l'almirall Darlan així com un gran nombre de ministres i d'ambaixadors europeus i el duc i la duquessa de Windsor.
