El Prat de Llobregat és un municipi que es troba a la comarca del Baix Llobregat a la província de Barcelona, Catalunya i forma part de l'àrea metropolitana de Barcelona. En el seu terme municipal es troben infraestructures de gran importància per a Barcelona com l'aeroport de Barcelona , i un cop finalitzades les obres del desviament del riu Llobregat una part de la zona portuària del port de Barcelona.
La ciutat es troba a la vora del Mar Mediterrani i el seu terme municipal d'una superfície de 32,23 km² limita amb els de Barcelona, l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Cornellà de Llobregat, Sant Boi de Llobregat i Viladecans. El terreny és pràcticament pla i la seva altitud màxima es troba a la Plaça de la Vila.
Les localitats agermanades amb el Prat són Garrovillas de Alconétar , Gibara , Kukra Hill i el comtat de Fingal .
