La Pobla de Segur és el segon municipi en importància de la comarca del Pallars Jussà. La seva riquesa i forma de vida té la base en el comerç i els serveis, així com en la indústria, la pagesia i la ramaderia. Té un clima variat durant tot l'any, tenint en compte que la seva situació és al Prepirineu. La vila està dividida pel riu Flamisell, que separa els dos nuclis més importants de la població. A l'entrada, per la carretera C-13 que ve de Tremp, existeix a l'esquerra, ponent, un polígon industrial i de serveis.
