Figueres és una ciutat de Catalunya, capital de la comarca de l'Alt Empordà i cap del partit judicial de Figueres. És el principal nucli urbà i el pol econòmic i comercial de l'Empordà.Està situada en el centre de la plana empordanesa, a 39 metres sobre el nivell del mar, a l'extrem nord-oriental de Catalunya. Als seus peus corre el torrent de Galligans, que aporta al Manol aigua plujana de les comes de ponent. El Puig de les Basses amb 136 metres com a punt més elevat.
