Alcúdia és un municipi balear situat al nord de Mallorca, que té el títol de ciutat des de 1523; i està situada entre les badies de Pollença i la d'Alcúdia; la seva extensió és de 60 quilòmetres quadrats, i té més de 21.000 habitants. La ciutat té un traçat urbanístic medieval, condicionat pels dos recintes de muralles que l'envolten. Els carrers són estrets i irregulars, alguns edificis conserven elements característics de l'època d'esplendor de la ciutat i són de gran valor arquitectònic. Antigament fou coneguda amb els noms de Pol·lèntia, a l'època dels romans; i Guinyent, els primers anys després de la conquesta.
