Es Bòrdes és un municipi de la comarca de la Vall d'Aran, situat al terçó d'Irissa. De 1877 a 1982 el seu nom era Las Bordas, i de 1982 a 1984 Les Bordes; a partir d'aquest, la seva denominació oficial és l'aranesa.
Antigament es coneixia com Les Bordes de Castell-lleó, ja que hi havia hagut el castell medieval de Lleó . Recentment s'han trobat restes d'aquesta construcció.
