Pamisos era el nom clàssic del riu més important de Messènia al sud del Peloponès, que formava la frontera entre Messènia i Lacònia, segons diu Estrabó. Aquest nom els antics escriptors només l'aplicaven a la part baixa del riu, quan era a la fèrtil plana, però els historiadors contemporanis hi designen tot el curs del riu, de de les seves fonts fins quan desaigua al Golf de Messènia. Les fonts són a la vessant occidental del mont Taíget.
