Baelen, på dansk også stavet som Balen, er en by og kommune i provinsen Liège i Belgien. Kommunen har over 4000 indbyggere.
I kommunen tales der en tysk-nederlandsk grænsedialekt, men kommunen kom alligevel til at ligge på den fransktalende side af sproggrænsen. Ved fastlæggelsen af sproggrænsen i 1963 blev der dog givet mulighed for at indrette nederlandsk- og/eller tysktalende faciliteter, hvis nødvendigt. Dette område kaldes også Platdietse regionen.
