For den første runde på 14 km blev der fra 1921 brugt offentlige veje mellem Francorchamps og Malmedy til Burnenville, derefter vejen til Stavelot til Masta og derfra via Route de l'Eau rouge til Francorchamps. Det første løb for motorcykler blev organiseret i 1921, det første bilrace kom i 1922. I 1924, et år efter Le Mans, fandt det første 24-timers løb for biler sted.
