I 1838 lodsede den lokale abbed et billede af Sankt Antonius, hvorefter træet blev et lokalt valfartssted for bønderne i området. Her kom de for at bede om helbredelse for deres svin og medbragte agern som foder til griseungerne. Grenene fra trækronens fulde krone er for øvrigt stadig tungt lastet med agern om efteråret.
