Det skulle komme fra den tid, hvor syge og sårede soldater blev taget imod her i Hageland i Napoleons tid. De syge og sårede soldater blev kaldt "marginaler".
Så et bedre navn for denne trekant ville være Napoleontrekanten.
Der er for øvrigt også en Marginal Trekant i Østflandern.
