Burg ligger ved grænsen til Dithmarscher Geest mod Wilstermarsch og præges af to meget forskellige naturområder.
Geestdelen er temmelig bakket og dækket af skov. Den højeste punkt er Wulffsboom med 65 meter, også kaldet Hamberg. Under den op til 35 meter høje Klevhang, en oprindelig klippekant, grænser Wilstermarsch op. Den er flad, mosset og skovfattig og ligger delvist under havets overflade. Gennem dette naturområde går Nord-Ostsee-Kanalen ind i kommunen. Ikke mindst på grund af sin særlige beliggenhed på bevokset Geest og i marsken kaldes Burg ofte "perlen ved den vestlige kyst af Schleswig-Holstein".
