Kriebstein er en kommune i Landkreis Mittelsachsen. Administrationssædet ligger i bydelen Kriebethal.
Kriebstein ligger cirka 20 kilometer sydvest for Döbeln og seks kilometer nordøst for byen Mittweida. Zschopau, en biflod til Freiberg Mulde, løber på vejen fra Mittweida til Waldheim gennem den smalle og klippefyldte Mittweidaer Zschopautal, hvor også Kriebstein dæmningsreservoir og den samme navngivne borg ligger. Dette barske klippelandskab er et tilholdssted for mange søgende efter rekreation og danner dermed frøet til den langsomt udviklende turisme i kommunen.
