Middelbyen Borken ligger i det vestlige Münsterland i det nordvestlige Nordrhein-Westfalen og er en mellemstor by, der hører til kommunen Borken samt dens hovedby. Borken er den tredjestørste by i kommunen efter Bocholt og Gronau.
Borken tilhører landskabeligt den Vestfalske Bucht. Byen, der ligger direkte ved nordvestkanten af naturparken Hohe Mark-Westmünsterland og vest for bjergkæden Die Berge, bliver gennemstrømmet af Borkener og Bocholter Aa.
