Bydelen Hermsdorf ligger i den centrale nordlige del af Reinickendorf og har med cirka 6,1 km² areal den sjette største størrelse blandt de elleve bydele i distriktet.
Dets nordlige grænse udgøres af bygrænsen til Berlin og dens tænkte forlængelse i vestlig retning op til Tegel-skovene langs Burgfrauenstraße og Falkentaler Steig. Mod nordøst grænser det op til den brandenburgske kommune Glienicke/Nordbahn i Landkreis Oberhavel med den såkaldte Entenschnabel. Nordvest for Hermsdorf ligger bydelen Frohnau.
