Kommunen Malsch ligger cirka 20 km syd for Karlsruhe i Baden. Kernebyen Malsch ligger i Rheinebene ved foden af Schwarzwald. I Malsch udspringer Federbach.
Kommunen Malsch omfatter de tidligere kommuner Sulzbach, Völkersbach og Waldprechtsweier. Kommunen Malsch, som den var den 31. december 1970, omfatter landsbyen Malsch, husmændene Neumalsch, gården Hardteck og husene Am Bergwald og Waldhaus. Den tidligere kommune Sulzbach omfatter landsbyen Sulzbach. Den tidligere kommune Völkersbach omfatter landsbyen Völkersbach, gården Rimmelsbacherhof og husene Moosalbtal. Den tidligere kommune Waldprechtsweier omfatter landsbyen Waldprechtsweier og husene Waldprechtstal.
I kommunen Malsch, som den var den 31. december 1970, ligger de øde steder Lindenhart og Ziegelhof, som dog sandsynligvis er blevet en del af Malsch.
