Frankenwald er et tysk mellemgebirgsområde i den nordøstlige del af Franken, som har en højde på mellem 300 og 794,6 m over havets overflade og et areal på 925 km². Små dele tilhører Thüringen og danner den sydøstlige fortsættelse af Thüringer Wald.
Frankenwald er den midterste del af det thüringisk-frankiske mellemgebirge. Denne 200 km lange højderyg bestående af Thüringer Wald og Thüringer Schiefergebirge, Frankenwald og Fichtelgebirge strækker sig fra nordvest mod sydøst til den tjekkiske grænse.
