Bydelen Lautenthal er en statsligt anerkendt kurby, som siden 1972 har tilhørt byen Langelsheim i Landkreis Goslar i Niedersachsen og siden 2013 igen bærer den officielle betegnelse „Bergstadt“. Lautenthal består ud over hovedbyen af bosættelserne Laddeken, Rote Klippe og Hüttschenthal.
Lautenthal ligger i Innerstetal mellem Clausthal-Zellerfeld og Langelsheim i den nordvestlige Oberharz. Byen ligger i en højde af cirka 300 m over havets overflade i en dal, hvor de omgivende bjerge når op til 620 m over havets overflade. De to floder Innerste og Laute løber gennem bjergbyen. I retning mod Langelsheim bliver Innerste dæmmet op til Innerstetalsperre.
