Den sammenvoksede by Petrer-Elda ligger i den indre del af provinsen Alicante. Bestående af byerne Petrer og Elda udgør den, med 88.164 indbyggere, den 6. største befolkning i Valencian Community og den 47. i Spanien.
Indtil 1975 kunne der stadig oprettes en cirka divisjonslinje i kvarteret kaldet præcist Grænsen, men fra denne dato var den fysiske forbindelse mellem de to kommuner allerede komplet, og der måtte oprettes et fællesskab af tjenester, som i dag kaldes Mancomunidad Intermunicipal de la Vall del Vinalopó.
