Spantax Flight 995 var en chartersflyvning fra Madrid-Barajas Lufthavn til New York via Málaga Lufthavn den 13. september 1982. Da DC-10-flyet rullede til take-off fra Málaga, følte piloten en stærk og forværret vibration og afbrød take-off. Besætningen mistede kontrollen over flyet og kunne ikke stoppe på den tilgængelige landingsbane, og flyet overfløj landingsbanen, ramte en flyveplads installation, mistede en motor, og krydsede derefter Málaga–Torremolinos Motorvejen, hvor det ramte et antal køretøjer, før det endelig ramte en jernbaneembankment og gik op i flammer. En nød evakuering af flyet blev udført, men 50 om bord døde af både forbrændinger og andre skader. Yderligere 110 personer blev indlagt på hospitalet.
