Nordkanalen er en forbindelseskanal, der forbinder Oise-dalen med Dunkerque-Escaut-kanalen. Den har to sluser, der forsynes med vand fra Oise og Aisne via pumpe, og modtager også overskud fra Somme ved Épénancourt. Den blev designet tyve år efter Freycinet-planen for at fremme en større sejlnorm end Saint-Quentin-kanalen, og dens byggeri, der begyndte i 1913, blev afbrudt af de to verdenskrige og de økonomiske vanskeligheder i mellemkrigstiden. Den blev endelig åbnet for sejlads i 1965.
