Sainte-Hune-fontænen er en del af historien om landsbyen Hunawihr. Allerede i det 7. århundrede siges det, at Huna, konen til Hunon, der boede i en gallo-romersk villa på den nuværende plads for kirken, sørgede for linnedet til de trængende ved fontænen.
En legende siger, at Huna i et dårligt høstår har forvandlet vandet fra fontænen til vin. Hun blev i 1520 helliggjort af pave Leo X som "Saint Lavandière", på anmodning af hertug Ulrich af Württemberg.
Ovenstykket af fontænens søjle bærer datoen 1656. Den nærliggende vaskeri stammer fra begyndelsen af det 20. århundrede.
Fontænen var en kilde til drikkevand for beboerne. Det var mødestedet for vaskekonerne og vinproducenterne.
