Fra stationen i Les Orres fører en række skovveje højt over Serre-Ponçon-søen til landsbyen Pontis ved indgangen til Ubaye-dalen.
Ved ankomst til bredden af Serre-Ponçon-søen, på stedet for den oversvømmede landsby Ubaye, gå op ad dalen mod Barcelonnette og derefter Sainte-Anne La Condamine, udgangspunktet for Parpaillon-sporet.
Tilværelsen af snebanker og is kan gøre krydsningen af Parpaillon-tunnelen vanskelig. Ved ankomst til landsbyen Crévoux efter en smuk nedstigning i lerkeskoven, tag en jævn sti tilbage til Les Orres.
