Van Morrison boede her som enebarn fra 1945 til 1961. Hans far George var elektriker i et skibsværft, hans mor Violet havde været stepdanser og sanger i sine yngre år. Naboområdet løber som en fælles tråd gennem hans samlede værk. I hans allerførste hit 'Brown eyed girl' synger han om The Hollow, det overvoksede område bag husene, det hemmelige sted for de første berøringer. Længere væk ligger Orange Field og især Cyprus Avenue, den højere avenue med villaer, som det ensomme arbejderbarn ser op til med længselsfulde øjne. Hvor 'Madame George hopper op og siger: "Hey skat/du glemte dine handsker, og/kærligheden der elsker kærligheden..."
