Kappl ist mit 2539 Einwohnern bei einer Fläche von 97,48 Quadratkilometer die zweite und einwohnermäßig größte Gemeinde im Tiroler Paznaun. Die Gemeinde liegt im Bezirk und Gerichtsbezirk Landeck.Kappl liegt zwischen der Verwallgruppe im Norden und der Samnaungruppe im Süden. Das größte Gewässer ist die Trisanna. Der tiefste Punkt der Gemeinde liegt im Nordosten bei 900 Meter Meereshöhe. Die höchsten Gipfel sind im Osten Gamsbergkopf und Rotpleiskopf , im Süden Grübelekopf und Vesulspitze und im Norden Fatlarspitze , Kreuzjochspitze , Weiskogel und Hoher Riffler .
