Ausdauer braucht es für diese Etappe, aber die schöne Natur lässt vorerst nicht an Strapazen denken. Es geht entlang der Leutascher Ache und später des Gaistalbachs durch herrliches Almengebiet. Auf dem „Ganghoferweg“ wandert man zur Hämmermoosalm, weiter taleinwärts zur Gaistalalm und Tillfussalm, wo sich Ganghofers Jagdhaus befindet. Nun verläuft die Route zwischen den immer markanter werdenden Mieminger Bergen und dem Wettersteingebirge sanft aufwärts zum Igelsee, einem Quellsee der Leutascher Ache. Auf der Forststraße abwärts zur Ehrwalder Alm und zur Bergstation der Ehrwalder Almbahn. Von dort über einen Wiesenweg hinunter zur Gemeinde Ehrwald, die von der Zugspitze überthront wird.
