Der Vredeplein ist ein sehr gemütlicher Ort zum Verweilen. Seit den Veränderungen, die 2010 stattgefunden haben, ist dieser Platz ein idealer Ort, um ein paar Minuten auf einer Terrasse zu genießen. Eine große Auswahl an Gastronomiebetrieben findet man hier in der Nähe. Der Platz liegt direkt an den Einkaufsstraßen von Aalst und nur 2 Minuten zu Fuß vom Grote Markt entfernt. Der Platz hat auch eine einzigartige Lage für das Denkmal der gefallenen Kämpfer, im Volksmund 'die ewige Flamme' genannt. Es ist die ideale Ausgangsbasis oder Zwischenstop für Wanderer, Radfahrer und Motorradfahrer.
