Assent ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Vlaams-Brabant und eine Teilgemeinde der Gemeinde Bekkevoort. Es war eine selbstständige Gemeinde von 1922, als es von der Gemeinde Kaggevinne-Assent abgetrennt wurde, bis es bei der Fusion von 1977 zur Gemeinde Bekkevoort hinzugefügt wurde. Woraus der Name Assent entstanden sein könnte, ist nicht ausreichend bekannt. Carnoy erklärt den Namen als: Erntegebiet. Lindemans betrachtet die Form Asnôth als Synonym für bath: Bad. Der Name Hasnoch wurde in einer Urkunde von 838 erwähnt. Ein Edelmann namens Hotbert schenkte der Abtei von Sint-Truiden sein Eigentum in "Hasnoch super fluvio MERBATO in pago Hasbaniensi sive Diostiensi". Mit dem Fluss oder Bach Merbato ist sehr wahrscheinlich Meerbeek gemeint.
