Jahrhunderts entwickelte sich hier in Brüssel eine Vision, dass der Weg zu Zivilisation und Bildung in einem Gebäude begann, dessen jedes Element der Architektur das pädagogische Projekt widerspiegeln sollte. Pascal Verbeken beschreibt es in seinem wunderschönen Buch Brutopia wie folgt: "In Gemeinden wie Schaarbeek und Sint-Gillis erheben sich wahre Schulpaläste, gut beleuchtet und belüftet, mit speziell entworfenen Möbeln, Mosaiken und Graffiti. Sie verfügen oft über eine Bibliothek, Turnhalle und ein Museum".
