Dieses Schloss wurde zu Beginn des 16. Jahrhunderts gebaut und kam später in den Besitz von Jan de Luu, dem damaligen Bürgermeister von Aalst. Laut Boon war de Luu oranjesinnig und wollte, dass die römisch-katholische Stadt Aalst in die Hände der Geusen fiel. 1580 besetzten die Geusen das Wasser-Schloss. Boon beschreibt die wichtige Rolle, die die Burg im Geusenkrieg spielte: von hier aus versuchten die Geusen im November 1581, Aalst zu überfallen. Der Plan scheiterte, da die Truppen, die ihnen folgen sollten, viel zu nah gekommen waren und von den Aalster Wachtposten bemerkt wurden.
